Tarajalejo – really not busy and the more beautiful

Tarajalejo – quiet away from the crowd on Fuerteventura.

Tarajalejo is located in the south of Fuerteventura and it´s not the first choice on the island. Perfect! Only among those who recently like to stay in a small, fine designer hotel and enjoy the peace of Tarajalejo – like some independent tourists who enjoy ther holiay away from the main tourist streams.

The advantages of these small former fishing village was recognized by some ” immigrants” several decades ago, who build some nice houses on a small hill. Meanwhile, you find more houses in which many locals and residents prefer to live – away from their daily work in the hotels and shops from Costa Calma , Jandia and Morro Jable.

Ok – the famous sandy beaches of Costa Calma ore Morro Jable are something special, but the small bay of Tarajajelo is also very pretty and just 5 minutes away from your holiday home.

In Tarajalejo itself you can find a very small village with supermarket, a few small shops, a few bars, a bakery and two restaurants by the sea. Another good restaurant is located just outside but within easy walking distance. And great sunsets you can find regularly in the evening on the beach.

Those who are looking for a little more life, can drive to Costa Calma, Jandia and Morro Jabel . Especially recommended – Gran Tarajal, a small Canarian town situated a bit more north . Ony about 10 to 15 minutes by car. On the nice promeande you have the choice: from pizza to seafood to tapas – the possibilities are endless . This small seaside town is otherwise also great for relaxing on the beach or shopping . Fresh fish at the harbor!

I personally like Tarajalejo. The location is perfect for short trips to the beaches further south also to Punta de Jandia and Cofete or to Bentacuria and further north. Even for surfers Tarajalejo is a good alternative close to the famous surf beaches and surf schools such as the Rene Egli and many other smaller providers too.
